Lakewood's older houses have details worth keeping

Half of Lakewood's homes were built in 1939 or earlier. If yours dates from the boom that followed the Detroit-Superior Bridge in 1917, it may have original trim and built-ins a newer house never had.

A house that age is worth keeping right. It's also fussier work than it looks: hinges, latches and plates that have been on the house for decades need to be bagged, labeled and put back with care.

My crew sets up before anything else happens. Wall décor and window treatments come down, furniture is moved and covered, floors and built-ins are protected, and every piece of hardware is bagged and labeled.

Done with that kind of care, the house keeps what makes it yours.

Ask us at the estimate visit what we'd do with your trim and built-ins. It's free to ask.

What we paint

How your price works

  1. Step 1: Estimate visit

We come to your house and look at the job with you. Bring your partner if they're part of the decision.

  2. Step 2: Fixed written price

You get a fixed written price before we start. Your deposit covers materials, and you get a receipt for it.

  3. Step 3: The work

The work on your written price is done by our own W-2 painters, and we aim to leave the place cleaner than we found it.

  4. Step 4: Final walkthrough

There's a punch list on every job, and we walk the project with you at the end. Then you pay the balance. Total-Care includes touch-ups for your first two years.

Lakewood painting questions

Do you paint two-family doubles?

Yes. Doubles are common in Lakewood. We can paint the full exterior, one unit or both, and plan access and scheduling around the people living in each. The written estimate spells out what is included for each unit.

Can you paint porches and long stairwells?

Yes. Porch floors, ceilings, railings and columns each need their own preparation and products, and the tall stairwells in older Lakewood homes need proper staging. We include both in the plan and the price.
