The work on your written price is done by our own W-2 painters, and we aim to leave the place cleaner than we found it.

What goes into a deck or fence job

What's included

  • Decks and porches
  • Fences and gates
  • Railings, posts and spindles
  • Pergolas

What usually goes wrong

  • Not knowing which boards and railings the price covers.

Your written price lists the boards, railings, stairs or fence runs we'll do before we start.

  • New coating over dirty or failing wood that never bonds.

We look at your wood first, and your written price says what prep it gets. Stain only goes on dry wood.

  • Weekends spent prepping and staining boards yourself.

Our own W-2 painters do the work. No subcontractors.

Deck and fence staining questions, answered

Can you stain over the finish that's on it now?

Sometimes. It depends on the condition of the finish that's on it now and whether the new finish will work with it. We tell you which it is after we look at it.

How long does a deck or fence stain last?

It depends on the prep, the product, sun, moisture, foot traffic and the wood. Deck boards wear faster than fence boards because you walk on them, so they usually need care sooner.

Why don't you stain right after washing?

Stain needs dry wood to soak into. So your deck or fence is washed first, given time to dry, then stained, and each coat gets time to cure before the next step. The weather decides part of that schedule.

How soon can you start?

We set your start date with you once you've signed the written price. If you sign at your home, Ohio law gives you three business days to change your mind, and we schedule your start after that. When we call to set up your estimate visit, ask where our schedule stands.
