A guide from our jobs here

A guide to a job we do in North Olmsted, with photos from our own jobs.

A North Olmsted ranch with T1-11 siding starts at the bottom edge

North Olmsted's population grew by more than 500 percent in the 1950s and '60s, and Bretton Ridge alone added more than 500 homes in the mid-1960s. If yours is a ranch from those years with grooved T1-11 siding, check the bottom edge.

T1-11 is plywood with grooves cut in. When the coating wears thin, water gets into the bottom edge and the layers start to separate. A fresh coat over that only covers it.

Our T1-11 guide shows how we handle siding like this: the bottom edge and corners are checked, small soft spots are filled, anything bigger is flagged before coating, and the end grain gets sealed. Stain or paint depends on what's on it now.

Done properly, it's a front you'll be glad to pull up to.

If you're not sure what's happening along the bottom edge, we'll check the edge and corners together at the estimate visit. It's free.

The work on your written price is done by our own W-2 painters, and we aim to leave the place cleaner than we found it.

North Olmsted painting questions

Can you paint aluminum siding?

Yes. Aluminum siding is common on North Olmsted homes from the 1950s and 1960s. It needs thorough cleaning to remove chalky residue, spot-priming where the metal is exposed and a finish made for the surface. We include that preparation in the written price.

Can you repair drywall before painting?

Yes. Holes, cracks, seams and nail pops are patched and blended before paint goes on.
