School painting in Sheffield means working around students, staff and the school calendar.
School buildings take more wear than almost anything else: carts and mop buckets along the walls, scuffed block, stained ceramic cove base and offices with old paneling. Every project has to fit between the last day of school and the first.
One approach we use: when the hallway floors are being replaced, the old ceramic cove base often doesn’t need to come out. Ripping it out means demolition and wall patching. Painting it with a primer made for glazed tile gives a clean, uniform base line for far less.

What facilities managers tell us they want:
Ceramic base is degreased, then primed with INSL-X Stix, a bonding primer made for slick surfaces. A tough topcoat goes on by sprayer.

We protect what stays. Where the old floor was coming out for carpet tile, we didn’t spend the district’s money masking it.
A darker lower band hides scuffs and a lighter upper wall keeps hallways bright.
Wood paneling is primed with an adhesion primer and painted, and trim and doors are enameled.

Metal siding and doors on garages are washed, rust is treated and primed, and coatings made for metal go on.

Hallways with a clean base line ready for new flooring, walls that hide wear, and offices that look current.

School painting in Sheffield rarely happens in one summer. The district work shown here was spread over several years, from 2020 to 2023, an area per summer: hallways one year, offices and the admin wing another, outbuildings when they were due. That keeps each summer’s work inside the break.
Offices got Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint on the walls, Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel on doors and trim, and Eminence on the ceilings.
Can you work over summer break? Yes. We schedule around the school calendar.
Can ceramic cove base be painted? Yes, with a bonding primer made for glazed tile and a tough topcoat.
Do you work in occupied buildings? Yes. We phase work so staff areas stay usable.
Can the work be split over several years? Yes. Many districts phase it by building or wing so each part fits inside one break.
