Sheffield painting questions
Can you stain our deck and fence at the same time as the house?
Yes. Many Sheffield properties have more exterior wood than a typical suburban lot, so combining the house, deck and fence into one plan is common. Each surface gets its own preparation, because failing stain and peeling paint need different treatment before a new finish will last.
Our house is fairly new. Does it really need repainting?
Often it is the interior that needs it first. Builder-grade flat paint scuffs easily and does not clean well, and touch-ups rarely match. We can repaint with a more washable finish and record your colors so future touch-ups blend.
Should we stain or paint our deck in Sheffield?
Stain soaks into the wood, so it wears gradually and is easier to refresh. Paint forms a film on top, which can look great but tends to peel on horizontal surfaces that take foot traffic, snow, and standing water. For most decks, a quality stain is the lower-maintenance choice. We will look at what is on your deck now and recommend the right approach.
When is the best time to paint an exterior in Sheffield?
In Northeast Ohio, exterior work generally runs from late spring through early fall. Every exterior paint lists a minimum temperature on the label, and surfaces have to be dry, so cold snaps, rain, and heavy morning dew all matter. Booking early in the season gives you the most flexibility on scheduling.
