How we price an interior job

The sheet shows what goes on your written price. The steps show when you pay.

What your written price shows

The job
The rooms, and which walls, ceilings, trim and doors
Prep
How your rooms are protected, and every repair your walls need
Products
The paint and sheen for each surface
What sets the price
Room size, ceiling height, the walls' condition, the prep, the number of coats, and which surfaces you're painting.
Your price
Your fixed price, written in before we start
What it covers
The work written on it.
A sketch of the parts, not a real price sheet. Yours has your own job written on it.

“…Great communication, neat and fair!”

  1. Step 1: Estimate visit

We come to your house and look at the job with you. Bring your partner if they're part of the decision.

  2. Step 2: Fixed written price

You get a fixed written price before we start. Your deposit covers materials, and you get a receipt for it.

  3. Step 3: The work

The work on your written price is done by our own W-2 painters, and we aim to leave the place cleaner than we found it.

  4. Step 4: Final walkthrough

There's a punch list on every job, and we walk the project with you at the end. Then you pay the balance. Total-Care includes touch-ups for your first two years.

What goes into an interior job

Living room with the furniture wrapped in plastic and the floor covered edge to edge before painting

What's included

  • Walls and ceilings
  • Trim, doors and millwork
  • Stair railings
  • Cabinets

What usually goes wrong

  • A patch you can still see through the new paint.

Your walls get paint only after every repair passes one question on our checklist: would you paint over this? If the answer is no, the repair gets more work. If your walls need drywall repair, that's one of our services.

“…What really set them apart is the fact that they know how to fix drywall. A lot of painters don’t.”

    Steve M · Google review
  • Day four becomes day eleven, and nobody tells you why.

“…Mike communicated with me regularly to keep me updated on start dates and progress with the job.”

    Christine Steinmetz · Google review
  • A painter who rolls right over a crack to finish sooner.

Any crack in your walls gets repaired before paint goes on. The rule at the top of our crew's checklist is "Never skip a step. Never paint over a problem."

Interior painting questions, answered

Does the estimate visit cost anything?

No. Estimates are always free. We come to the house, look at the job with you, and put the price in writing.

How do you get in while you're working?

We'll go over how we get in with you at the estimate visit.

How much furniture do I have to move?

You take down the small, fragile and personal things, the pieces you'd rather nobody else handled. Your furniture gets moved and covered as part of protecting the room, and you go over the bigger pieces with us at the estimate visit.

What order do you paint a room in?

Here's the order on our crew's room checklist. First we protect your room and take down what has to come off. Then we look over the walls, ceilings and trim, make the repairs, caulk and spot prime. Then the ceilings get painted, then the trim and doors, then the walls, and everything is checked under good light for touch-ups. Last, your things go back where you had them, and you walk the room with us.

How soon can you start?

We set your start date with you once you've signed the written price. If you sign at your home, Ohio law gives you three business days to change your mind, and we schedule your start after that. When we call to set up your estimate visit, ask where our schedule stands.
